A report by Economic Times suggests that Google is finally planning its big launch in the Indian smartphone ecosystem in July 2018. Apparently, Android GO was the tech giant’s initiative to create a “stripped-down” version of Android for entry-level smartphones such as Nokia 1.
Moreover, Google wants to combat rivals like Amazon, Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi. Although Apple is itself struggling to conquer the hearts and minds of Indian smartphone users by creating budget devices, they are still far too expensive for the Indian masses.
Which Google products might arrive in India?
Not only Google mid-range Pixel smartphone, but Google Home smart speakers, Pixelbook laptop, intelligent home automation products are also said to be among other Google products that will flood the Indian market in mid-2018.
Bigger brands than Google have failed in India before for not being able to appeal to the Indian consumers. To combat this underlying issue, Google’s top executives are funneling massive amounts of money on marketing the ‘Indian way.’Realistically, Google has a fair shot in India just like any other since it is a well-known company and trustworthy in many aspects.
When is Google Pixel coming to India?
Introducing consumer products, especially Google mid-range Pixel smartphone combined with the already cheaper 4G internet services like Reliance Jio will only boost its potential. As far as Google Pixel is concerned, the company wants to create a ‘price-sensitive’ product for the Indian markets which could see a launch either in July or August of this year.
Among other products that Google wants to introduce includes Google Home for Rs. 9,999 and Home Mini for Rs. 4,499 respectively. The Pixelbook, which is a competitor to Apple MacBook and Microsoft Surface Laptop. Also, intelligent home automation products like a doorbell, camera, alarm system, smoke detector, Google WiFi will most likely take roots in India by 2019.
