LG missed out this year’s biggest event – MWC 2018 because they were too busy designing the G7. Although there are rumors circulating that the electronics giant might ditch the G-series once and for all and adopt a new series altogether starting with G7 or maybe even include numbers instead. Whatever it may be called, the phone seems quite promising.
It is not a secret that whatever we see in the leaked images or videos don’t actually reciprocate when the actual handset hits the markets. That being said, G7 would have to follow some specific crowd-pleasers and trendsetters if it wants to make a good turnover this year.
Cutting it short
- What is it? LG’s flagship smartphone for 2018
- What will it be launched and available for purchase? Perhaps June, but it could be as early as May.
- Any pricing estimation? We’re thinking it would be expensive, you’ll see why.

The year 2018 is the year of the notch. As it turns out, LG G7 will also reportedly have it but without any bezels. The space on either side of it will be enough to display notification icons, battery indicator, time, etc. This blacked-out notch can even protrude into the screen or conceal within a flush on-screen bezel by accessing the settings menu.
As far as the display is concerned, LG is planning to go ahead with MLCD+ panel which is fairly new in the mobile arena and sounds very promising. It consumes 35 percent less power and uses RGBW matrix and has a maximum brightness of 800-nits, which means that MLCD+ rates far better than IPS LCD screens, so this could be one of the major success points.
On the hardware front, a report from The Investor in May 2017 stated that LG partnered with Qualcomm last December to deliver the most popular Snapdragon 845 with G7. Now all of the devices that have had Snapdragon 845 have had the highest speeds, better camera performance, and faster animation speed and if this goes inside the G7 then there will be nothing to keep this device from being a big hit this year.
When to expect a release date?
Good things take time, at least for LG it seems to be true. Its newest flagship named “Judy” will be launched sometime in June. This should bring the company a lot of good luck and also weed out touch competition coming from Samsung who have already launched S9 and S9 Plus this year.
