Exciting events are unfolding in the smartphone industry today. OnePlus has ‘seemingly’ confirmed the name and launch of its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6.
Speculations turned to certainty when the Chinese company released its first official teaser on Twitter. The soon-to-be-launched OnePlus 6 announcement was made in the late hours of Monday. The teaser puts all doubts to bed regarding the launch date being pushed to July or August, instead, it will be June of this year, just like OnePlus 5.
The teaser video posted on Twitter in the official OnePlus page reads, “6et ready!” clearly hinting at the next flagship.

Curiously enough, their upcoming flagship model has a ‘6’ in it, which aligns perfectly the calendar month June (06). To spice things up, OnePlus will also roll out with a ‘special OnePlus 6 Avengers Infinity War Limited Edition.’
Apparently, OnePlus has left the Star Wars fans in awe after its unveiling of OnePlus 5T Star Wars limited edition in 2017. This year, OnePlus has collaboration plans with Marvel Studios for an Avengers themed OnePlus 6. Although this OnePlus 6 announcement is not yet official, it is confirmed by many.
A test video was wrongly posted on Facebook that gives a fierce push in this direction. Have a look at it yourself.
Avengers Infinity War will hit the screens worldwide on April 27, which means that OnePlus 6 would launch its limited-edition around the same time.
Moreover, adding fuel to the ongoing jet-stream of excitement is yet another tweet that was accompanied by the video, “The speed you need” followed by the number 6. Another tweet in the series of speed-teasers includes, “Don’t you have enough speed? No.”

It couldn’t be more obvious that OnePlus 6 announcement confirms its commitment to speed. This flagship model will be the fastest of all OnePlus models released so far.
OnePlus 6 specifications (expected):
Design & build
The flagship phone will definitely come with a notch. The notch will definitely be bigger than the Essential phone but smaller than one seen on the iPhone X, Carl Pei confirmed himself.
This will not only increase the screen-to-body ratio but also give more area to play around with smart AI gestures that the OxygenOS is currently being tested for. These screen gestures could very well replace on-screen navigation buttons.
OnePlus will most likely come with a wood-grain finish at the back and a vertically-aligned dual camera mounted at the rear end.
Also, OnePlus 6 will have a modified fingerprint sensor, in that it won’t be circular but more rectangular as seen in the Samsung Galaxy S9.
Display
Display-wise, preliminary leaks suggest that OnePlus 6 will come with a 6.28 Full HD+ 1080 x 2280 pixels Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Also, the screen will be protected using Corning Gorilla Glass on top.
Hardware
Hardware plays a dominant in making smartphone purchasing decisions today. The OnePlus 6 announcement strongly suggests a Snapdragon 845 will be the powerhouse and come in two variants: 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM, 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
Although Huawei P20 Pro & Huawei P20 Pro (soon to arrive in India as well) will have 512GB ROM (128GB for Huawei P20 Pro with 512GB in certain regions) on a 6GB RAM, the latter might be heavily priced in the upwards of $2,100.
Camera
OnePlus has always been adorned for its great camera specs. The OnePlus 6 is expected to mount a 16MP and 20MP dual camera sensors with a f/1.7 aperture on both lenses. Consecutively, the front-facing camera will have a 20MP snapper with the same aperture.
Battery
The whole device will be backed by a 3,450mAh battery and run on OxygenOS based on Android Oreo 8.1.
Price
Although it is still a rumor, OnePlus 6 could be the most expensive phone that the company has ever introduced (more than Rs. 40,000). We will just have to wait and find out.
