After the recent unveiling of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, one thing is certain, Xiaomi is lagging behind its competitors in terms of introducing the in-display fingerprint sensor, or perhaps it is just waiting for the right moment?
Xiaomi is secretly developing a smartphone codenamed “dipper” which has been kept under wraps until its benchmark results sprawled all over the internet with Snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. However, if the rumors are to be believed it is going to be Mi 7, although nobody is yet confirming that it will be called “Mi 7.”
Speaking of Mi 7, it might not come with a fingerprint sensor at all, instead, the in-display fingerprint sensor might replace the need for a designated reader at the back of the screen altogether. This might be possible for the Mi 7 Plus. As far as Mi 7 is concerned, it may or may not come with a facial recognition, that’s only a guess at this point.
The dipper’s firmware exposes two different types of fingerprint sensors made from two very good companies- Synaptics and Goodix.
Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus is codenamed ‘Ursa’, and it might contain an OLED display with a notch. Also, Qualcomm Snapdragon seems to be the fan favorite so 845 SoC is most likely to be on it. Battery wise, longer the better with a 4000mAh would be one way to go.
