The Redmi 4 comes with an all metal unibody design. It looks similar to the popular Redmi Note 4 but with smaller bezels. However, the screen remains bezel-less even in this edition.
The makers of Redmi 4 have done a substantial research and outdone themselves in this series of ultra-affordable full HD 5.0 inch display encapsulated by a premium metal body. Let us take a closer look at the new additions made in Redmi 4 variants.
One of the best decisions made by Xiaomi was to offer a curved 2.5D glass display on the front. It comes with a 720×1280 pixels display with a full HD 5.0 inch screen. Also, the standard Mi buttons can be found at the bottom which is equidistant and covers the space really well. Top of the screen contains earpiece, front camera 5.0MP with a flashlight.
Backside contains a 13.0MP camera with a second flashlight and a fingerprint scanner. Nearing the lower end is the famous “MI” logo engraved and the metallic horizontal border line resembles an iPhone 6S.
The phone also comes enclosed with a non-removable 4100mAh battery. This is a plus considering the longer span it provides.
After a lot of grievances from consumers, Xiaomi has finally decided to move the speakers to the bottom end of the smartphone, as compared to the previous models where it was placed in the backside.
It also contains a charging duct which also acts as a Micro USB port. Both right and left sides are chamfered and CNC-milled.
On the right, is the volume rocker, which is unified into one large button. The power on, and off button is located right underneath as well.
On the top left, is the SIM and SD Card slot, unified into one. It supports Nano SIM, Micro SIM and an SD card, two at a time. Also, the needle to open the SIM Tray is supplied in the package as well.
The top part of the phone consists of a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microphone.
The CPU of Redmi 4 Standard Edition contains Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, with Octa Core Processor. The operating frequency is 1.4GHz; it is considerably faster compared to the Redmi 3. Memory units, RAM and ROM are fixed at 2GB and 16GB respectively but the ROM is extendable up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.
Xiaomi has decided to sell the devices in the user desired operating system, either Android 6.0- Marshmallow or Windows OS. Any flashing of the OS independently by the user will void the manufacturer warranty.
The camera quality of Xiaomi has always been its strongest asset. With a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, the pictures appear in ultra-HD and so does the video recording in 720 pixels HD. The product weighs much lighter, only 155 grams.
