The little known Chinese brand ZTE is said to be working on something mysterious lately. Their new flagship called Axon M9 is already due for a September launch, but grabbing everyone’s attention is the ZTE Iceberg and its jaw shattering design.
Design and Build
ZTE-Iceberg
Forget the specs for a minute and just think of all the phones that you have seen in the last 5 years. None of them features an all-glass body, until ZTE Iceberg!
Yes, the ZTE Iceberg features a complete glass body, no metal frame at all. To top it off, the device is designed using a “seamless glass connection technology” that no-one has ever heard of. Apparently, this technique facilitates a “unibody” design.
Build wise, the phone is furthermore weird. It has the glass jutting out at the corners instead of a somber curved glass edge. Clearly, if it rolls out like this, nobody would ever be able to keep it in their pockets. But it could also be interesting and might become something interesting, right now it is still a concept phone.
Notch again!
Having one notch on a smartphone is already very common. But can you live with two of them? The ZTE Iceberg will probably have two notches, one at the top for the usual mounts, the other for speakers. Also, these speakers won’t be on the backside, but on the contrary, they will face the frontend.
The rear will have usual mounts like dual cameras and a fingerprint scanner. The bottom will have a five-point charging center but the phone will also support wireless charging, just in case you were wondering.
When is the launch?
Now, as far as the launch is concerned, the ZTE Iceberg could be launched in early 2019.
Apart from the cool but highly irregular build and design, we do expect the phone to be actually very good. Perhaps when the phone actually rolls out, it won’t be as uncomfortable as it seems at the moment. We’ll simply have to wait to find out.
